    For the last 4 months, our teams have been keeping everything crossed while we patiently waited to hear any news about the upcoming VisitEngland Award for Excellence. This week we finally heard the news that we have made it through to the finals, along with our good friends at King Richard III Visitor Centre!

    Over the years, we’ve worked to develop Boosters into a café that’s accessible and friendly to everyone that visits the National Space Centre, especially families who need to plan meals for their children or people they are caring for. So it’s a huge boost to the team and the Centre as whole that we’ve achieved accreditation from the Family Café Standard.

But it can be tough to see the stars, or to even know what to look out for, especially if you are new to the field. For this Our Space, I had a chat with Ann Bonell, the Leicester Astronomical Society’s owner, about how the friendship between the Society and the National Space Centre began.

    Earlier this year, we launched our One Small Step scheme, which allows people to support our educational Charity by purchasing a plaque and sponsoring one of our iconic astronaut footprints. We were absolutely blown away when an organisation called AR Demolition reached out to us and told us they wanted to make a very special donation and purchase 5 plaques to support the IGNITE!
