Our Solar System

National Space Centre Relaunched in July 2026, Our Solar System takes visitors on an unforgettable journey through the planets, moons, comets and asteroids that make up our cosmic neighbourhood. From the scorching surface of Venus to the icy worlds beyond Neptune, the gallery combines fascinating science with immersive, hands-on experiences for explorers of all ages.
Discover the dramatic story of our Solar System through interactive exhibits, stunning displays and remarkable space rocks, including the impressive Fall Wall meteorite collection. See a genuine piece of Mars and learn about the Barwell meteorite, which famously fell just a few miles from the National Space Centre.
The gallery is also home to the Tinytarium, a specially designed fulldome experience where younger visitors can enjoy their first adventure among the stars, and the Venus Experience, which takes you on a daring descent through the planet’s dense atmosphere to its hostile surface.

National Space Centre At the heart of the relaunch is the brand-new Outer Solar System Experience. Visit comet 67P, join the Great Pluto Debate, test your knowledge in the Quiz at the End of the Solar System, and create a virtual extremophile in a hydrothermal vent environment. The highlight is a fully immersive projection room where you can walk amongst, explore and interact with the distant worlds of the outer Solar System, bringing the edge of our cosmic neighbourhood closer than ever before.
